I started exploring breath in 2014, being burnt-out and hospitalised. I discovered how my breath can show me how to stay very close to myself and to my needs. How my breath can inspiring me to stop living my life according to others. Before, I had no clue what to do in a situation of overwhelm; about distressing thoughts; in a job I didn’t like; and daily routines where I seemed to let myself be taken over.
Now, my breath and my body are my compass: How do I actually feel? How do I interact clearly? How do I take care of myself? What relaxes me? How does my natural flow feel? How do I tune to my heart? What does life flowing through me feel like? What is good for my body now?
I attended the Amsterdam Steiner School and completed my Master of Arts at the University of Amsterdam. I have worked at the Dutch Cancer Society for 10 years. At 17 years old, I started my inquiry into Bodywork with yoga and meditation. As a yoga teacher (>2005), I was initially inspired by Jivamukti Yoga. Other Bodywork-trainings followed, e.g. Somatic Experience, Yin Yoga and Kundalini Yoga. I have a Croatian / Dutch background. My partner and I raise our teenage daughter and son.
My journey strongly evolved since I became a certified Transformational Breath® Facilitator at the Transformational Breath® Foundation. Exploring the wisdom of my breath and body ever since. Currently I’m in a 3 years ‘begeleiders opleiding’ -professional training guiding people in the art of living at Bambu. Including Systemic Therapy, Transactional Analysis, and Bioenergetic Therapy.
